Can a high school student enroll at Â鶹´«Ã½Porn outside of their high school, Skyward schedule?

  • High school students who wish to enroll directly through Â鶹´«Ã½Porn can do so during regular operating hours: 8 AM to 8 PM (Monday-Thursday) and 8 AM to 2 PM (Friday). Direct enrollment through Â鶹´«Ã½Porn means that the student’s program will not be included in their high school schedule through Skyward. Generally, students should be 16 years of age or a junior to enroll. High school students who enroll directly are not charged tuition and fees, including for summer enrollment between their junior and senior years. However, they are required to meet admission requirements as outlined in the How to Enroll section.

Can I earn high school credit if I enroll directly through Â鶹´«Ã½Porn?

  • Yes, students can request their Â鶹´«Ã½Porn credits be transferred to their home high for high school credit. As directed by the TCSD, students are eligible to receive 1.0 high school credit for every 3.0 credits completed at Â鶹´«Ã½Porn using a P/F letter grade.

How do I enroll through my high school Skyward schedule?

  • Generally, students should be 16 years old or a junior. Students can schedule Â鶹´«Ã½Porn programs through their high school schedule during Arena scheduling or through their high school counselor. Scheduling for Â鶹´«Ã½Porn programs is offered in a 2-period, block schedule. Students can choose to enroll in more than one block period for the same program, if applicable. Due to the rigorous nature of the college-level curriculum for each program, it is recommended that students do not self-register for more than one Â鶹´«Ã½Porn program at the same time.

How do I drop or change a Â鶹´«Ã½Porn program in my schedule?

  • Students who want to make changes to their high school schedule in Skyward need to work directly with their high school counselor. Changes to your Skyward schedule may impact access to your program of interest based on available space. Students wanting to add additional scheduled hours outside of their high school schedule need to work with a Â鶹´«Ã½Porn enrollment specialist.

How do I receive grades and credits for my Â鶹´«Ã½Porn program?

  • Â鶹´«Ã½Porn uses a competency-based education system, allowing students to advance by demonstrating proficiency in concepts and skills, regardless of time, place, or pace. High school grades are determined by attendance, competency level, and progress rate. To earn an “A,” students should complete at least two college credits per semester or approximately 70 competency hours. Note that grades do not reflect overall program progress or certification.

Will I complete my program before I graduate high school?

  • In a competency-based education system, it is not a guarantee that you will complete your program before you graduate high school. It is important to understand the credit hours required for your program, set goals, and monitor your progress. Students can schedule hours outside their high school schedule or during the summer to help complete their program. Students can also continue their enrollment after graduation. Upon graduation, tuition will no longer be waived. However, Â鶹´«Ã½Porn offers options for financial aid and scholarships to help cover costs.

How is attendance recorded at Â鶹´«Ã½Porn?

  • Good attendance is a top factor for succeeding in your program. Attendance is recorded in your Student Portal and is not entered in Skyward. Students who arrive to class more than 5 minutes late will be marked tardy; more than 20 minutes late will be marked absent (the same goes for leaving early). Â鶹´«Ã½Porn follows the TCSD calendar for students scheduled through Skyward. Students should notify their instructor when they are going to be absent. However, there are no excused absences, including school-excused activities, and students will lose hours toward course completion when absent. According to the Department of Education, students will be involuntarily withdrawn from the college if they miss 10 consecutive days.

How do I use my student ID badge?

  • Students use their ID badge to clock in and out of class in the Northstar Student Station to record their attendance. Students are not able to clock into class until 5 minutes before their scheduled time. Students should speak with their instructor or Student Services if they are unable to clock in. Clocking in for another student is a direct violation of the Student Code of Contact and is prohibited. Student ID badges will be issued the first week of school. See the front desk if you don’t receive your ID badge or need a new one.

How does lunch work at Â鶹´«Ã½Porn?

  • Students are responsible for determining how to get lunch. The following are some options: 1) Bring a lunch, 2) Purchase lunch at the Simply Bliss Café (located on campus), or 3) Eat at the CLC cafeteria (for students who are scheduled at Â鶹´«Ã½Porn for the full day).

Is transportation available to Â鶹´«Ã½Porn?

  • Yes, students can utilize the Community Learning Center (CLC) bus that drops off and picks up students in front of the Â鶹´«Ã½Porn entrance. Otherwise, students are responsible for their own transportation.

What is the College’s course retake policy?

  • Open-entry/defined-exit programs consist of courses divided into modules. Students enroll in one course at a time and must complete all required coursework by the course end date, which is available in their Student Portal. Please note that the College’s course end dates do not align with the high school semester schedule in Skyward. If a student cannot complete the course by the end date, they will be placed on a written improvement plan. If the course is not completed by the third attempt, the student will be invited to return to their high school to explore other classes better suited to their needs.

Is the college required to follow high school IEP, 504, or Health Plan accommodations?

  • As a college institution, we are not required to follow accommodations in the student’s high school IEP, 504, or Health Care Plan. Students seeking accommodations must follow the application process for requesting Americans with Disabilities (ADA) accommodations as outlined on the Students with Disabilities section.
